Research/Medical Facilities
Phoenix NV works with architects and structural engineers to design multistory research facilities with low vibration levels.
- Footfall vibration
- Mechanical vibration
- Traffic vibration
- ISO standards
Modern biomedical research facilities increasingly include vibration sensitive instrumentation such as fluorescent and electron microscopes, nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, high powered table top microscopes, and microtomes. Hospitals require low vibration levels to properly operate MRI's, surgical microscopes, and other imaging devices. What was once relegated to the basement (where vibration levels are low) is now being placed on upper floors due to space limitations and convenience.
Building designs for research facilities and hospitals must include consideration of vibration impact on such instrumentation. Phoenix NV is capable of aiding architects and structural engineers in the design process to ensure achievement of vibration specifications of particular
instrumentation.
Structures can be computer modeled to
determine response to various
input sources such as HVAC,
transportation, and footfalls.
For existing facilities, Phoenix NV can provide vibration measurement surveys to determine current vibration levels in a floor system. This is especially helpful in determining the feasibility of a room for housing particular vibration sensitive equipment. Phoenix NV also offers remedial design work for rooms which do not meet specifications.
