Proper mitigation of tenant and building equipment generated noise and vibration transmission into residential living spaces in multifamily (townhomes, condominiums, apartments) housing is critical when maintaining tenant satisfaction and preserving property value. Phoenix Noise & Vibration offers a full range of services to ensure that noise and vibration isolation are not overlooked in the design or construction phases of development, including:

- STC and IIC specification
- construction administration
Phoenix Noise & Vibration reviews initial and progress drawings to identify potential sources of noise and vibration transmission into living and recreational spaces. These issues are addressed with feasible mitigation solutions which can be integrated into the building design without encroaching on other aspects of the building’s design and function.
Construction administration visits are recommended to ensure that mitigation designs and noise and vibration control products are being properly implemented during the construction phase. The improper use of products or installation processes can significantly limit and reduce the intended performance of mitigation designs to the degree that they are providing no additional reduction of noise or vibration transmission above standard building construction.
We also develop remedial designs for acoustical errors in existing construction such as insufficient unit-to-unit noise isolation (demising walls and floor/ceiling systems with low STC and or IIC ratings), improper placement of building equipment (i.e. rooftop equipment above a bedroom, an elevator pump next to a living room,
an emergency generator outside a recreational area, etc.), and noticeable
plumbing noise.
