Multi-Family Buildings
We provide consultation in the construction of multi-family structures to minimize the transmission of noise and vibration from unit to unit. We specialize in condominiums and townhomes.
- STC and IIC specification
- Plumbing noise
- HVAC noise
Today's residential development includes more and more multifamily concepts in both mid-rise and high rise designs. Noise transmission from unit to unit must be addressed in the design phase to insure compliance with newer, more restrictive codes such as IBC 2000. Difficulty in meeting these codes is compounded by the market's desire for hard surfaced flooring such as tile and hardwood. Additionally, space limitations restrict wall and floor/ceiling depths and subsequently noise conduction.
Phoenix NV is fully knowledgeable in the design and layout of multifamily structures to minimize air borne and structure borne noise transmission from unit to unit. We can work with architects and designer to develop units which have thinner walls and hard floors while still meeting building codes. Many times new building material technology is incorporated in our designs to achieve the desired
results.
HVAC systems for multifamily dwellings are also sources of noise requiring careful design to meet desirable levels. Phoenix NV is clearly capable of aiding in the design of quiet building systems.
Drawings and details of designs are produced in CAD.
